Dear White People
Dear [covert racist] White people and White-identifying Latinx community who are either Homer Simpson-ing into the bushes or think that you blend in with [covert racist] White people so they must like you because you’re technically not brown,
Let me sit y’all down so we can talk. I have grown weary of a lot of you, and because of this, I am suspending any of your submission of new friend/potential bae applications until further notice. First and foremost, I’d like to acknowledge those of you who have made the cut into my life. You are either here because you “get it” or you are here because you have not had the chance to show your behind, as you are not yet high enough up in the tree. So, unless I know your stance on certain topics, don’t get comfortable. You’re likely to say something to trigger me or others around you out of pure ignorance and privilege. And my therapist and I would like it very much if I can get rid of my triggers….
Whether its commenting on things you know very little about, judging race related subjects that you feel comfortable saying in front of me because they may not appear to directly apply, asking me things with no intention of educating yourself on prior, etc.
I am finding you injecting your “opinions” more and more on matters that you’ve yet to research or things you will NEVER experience. Before you tell me that this can apply to any and everyone, not just White people, I am talking specifically talking about one topic. I know ALL TOPICS MATTER, but I am referencing racial injustices and it’s disgusting American roots. You can have your opinions; you just can’t have me too.
As a matter of fact, your opinions are not opinions at all. If someone has to explain to you how the blatant recent (but yet not new) events are wrong, why it is inhumane to victim blame, or why my life matters, that is not an opinion. That is called lack of human decency. You suck tremendously for lacking compassion for other human lives, and you suck for dismissing and minimizing my feelings about this trauma I see all the time. I retract that; you’re a real POS.
I am uninterested in engaging in conversation with you, so at this point, stop asking. I’m not explaining this. Your views Charlie Brown back and forth too much on the matter depending on irrelevant information about the victims’ whereabouts or past endeavors before these atrocities. The person could have been sleeping in her bed, minding her own Black ass business, and you will still look for justification.
You know what I need? A friend who I don’t have to educate. I need a boo who I don’t have to spell out the things I go through every day because I am “me”. I need people in my life that care about me, and care about my family enough to be moved to advocacy. There are resources if you have questions. Remove me as one of them.
The more I speak to y’all, the more I see why the Panther party was started. And I ain’t talking Marvel…
If your knee-jerk reaction to this discrimination is to find a reason to excuse the behavior displayed by our police in any capacity, UNFRIEND ME IN REAL LIFE.
Ew.
