6 Ways I Organize My Life

Disorganization aggravates my anxiety like a mofo.  These are some everyday ideas to keep your ish in check.

1)  I bought myself a planner.

I love stationary and I love to physically write and read things as opposed to online or on my phone/computer. I designate certain days to get certain things done (depending on how long they will take and how long I have that day to get things done). This helps me stay on target with my To-Dos—I am only ever productive because I am in constant pursuit of the temporary gratification of crossing things off my list; that is the actual ONLY reason.

2)   While I’m on the note of designating dates and deadlines to my endeavors, I also like to break down each little idea that pops into my mind into increments.

I have never considered myself a creative in the least, but lately I have had SO many new, fresh ideas (about ANY and EVERYTHING) that my mind feels like a Picasso painting. So to combat the constant buzzing, I write down my ideas and my goals regarding those ideas, and take it one task at a time.

Ex: I want to go shopping for and decorate my cubicle at work, I want to revamp my wardrobe, I want to learn how to do the basics in make-up, I have 100,000 blog ideas, etc.

3)  One of my favorite things in life to do is grab coffee with my sister on the weekends (when I’m not working) and do a little something that we like to call, “get our life”.

We designate 1-3 hours of our Saturday morning to coffee, catching up from the week, and working on our weekly goals. It helps me figure out what I want my week to look like, manage my bills, write, organize our next scheme to take over the world... etc. Does any of it ever pan out the way I plan it? Hardly, but its fun to keep rewriting the same thing over and over until I can cross it off, finally. (Hey! I am exhausted after a full day’s work and gym… sometimes I barely make it to my bed! Don’t judge me.)

4)  I claim the first of every month to be a fresh attempt to actually accomplish literally anything I plan to get done.

I use the first weekend in the month to make sure I have washed all my linens, clothes, towels, etc. (I wash in between, but I do the most in the beginning of the month), I put premium gas in my car the first chance I get, also get my car washed, and so on. Some of it may seem trivial but it really helps me to remember the last time something might have gotten done, and to make sure that I’m on target with getting it done regularly. That’s just how busy I get sometimes!

5)  I army roll my clothes in my dresser drawers and when I pack for my long trips to the gym from work. It saves space. This one was just a fun fact.

6)  Im obseesed with Pinterest boards! I have boards for everything; my hair goals/ideas and products, tattoos I want to get, outfits/style, books, photo shoot ideas, my wedding….. (that is the only board that is complete… all I need is the groom).

Now go set your goals and kick them in the face.
