Well folks, here it is: my personal accountability portion my blog.
As some of you may know, recently my gym had closed temporarily and I had decided for a few reasons not to return upon its indefinite reopening. If you have been following me for a while, you know that gym was LIFE. I had obviously slowed down in attendance since Covid in 2020, but I hadn’t completely stopped altogether. Until mid-late 2023…
I recently got some interesting news about my health that I had been trying for several years to counteract. I had a slew of “lifestyle” issues show up on my bloodwork (see my blog https://www.soflomo.me/new-blog/2020/2/13/black-people-be-dying ) after just a few months of slow regression. I want to change my life by becoming active like I used to be. I could also use the mental health benefits, as I am under pressure with some things in my personal life as well, which I had also noticed declining as I became less and less physically active.
I have to fight against my urge to “potate” (verb for transforming into a potato) just because I don’t “feel" like it or feel unmotivated.
Here are some things about these workouts that you should know before tapping in with me:
This is visibly not thought out; I am working on my angles and editing as we go. Super unofficial.
I get most of my workouts from the FitBod app with some substitutions sometimes, or IG.
The music I choose for each post is determined by the one song that came on during my workout that charged me up and changed the dynamic of my session.
I try to include some repetitive moves in each workout (as you will notice) that I feel are super beneficial for me. This includes a plank for the duration of an entire song (or as much of it as possible).
Yes, I work out in full panties. Get over it.
When I am not in the gym, I am using what I have at home which can be very limited. Ex: I do not own dumbbells so I substitute with kettlebells where it makes sense, the weights I do have are often too light, etc.
I do 5-10 box jumps after each set of moves. I total out to 50 by the end of each session.
I dance during my workouts…. A LOT… to get me through. Get used to that also.
These are not all in real time. I upload depending on how long it takes me to edit and based off which I feel like uploading. But they happened, that’s all that matters. :)
So my motive is to move. For 3-5 days out of my week, I need to move in some capacity. And I am assigning YOU as my accountability partners. Will you join me in mind and body improvement?
